Video: The Teaser for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower has been released

by on May 3, 2017

So I’ll admit it, I’ve never read the Dark Tower, nor do I know much about it. I’ve read about it before, on sites much like this one. I know it’s sort of a post-apocalyptic setting, in a parallel world to ours, with a western vibe and there is a man in black and the stranger or “gunslinger.” I know it’s been an arduous task trying to get this film made, not to mention there is some sort of TV show that was suppose to go with it, that may have fallen through. I have no clue anymore.

But when I heard Matthew McConaughey was set to star as the villain, I was intrigued. Then came news that they’ve locked down Idris Elba as the Gunslinger, I was like, sweet, take my money. Then things went really, really quiet. Until a few days ago, when a teaser for the teaster (yeah, this is apparently the new trend now) was released. Today, however, we have the actual teaser trailer below. Enjoy.

Clearly this film is going to be an epic, three part saga. There are some cool stunts and the way Elba reloads his weapon, that’s just slick. We also get a brief glimpse of the man himself, Mr. Denzel Washington, who appears to be Elba’s father. Either way, I’m exciting to see where this movie goes.

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

The Dark Tower hits theaters this August.
