With its release pending next month, Fox is really pushing the marketing campaign for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. We’ve had a long-form trailer, which featured crew members hanging out in the common room, bs’ing about life and the future, only to end up being chased by a Xenomorph by the end. Just last week Fox gave us three new TV commercials, but just yesterday, we received yet another commercial, titled: Take Me Home.
This new commercial is creepy, as Alien movies typically are, but this time instead of being paired with music that makes your skin crawl, Fox, and whomever cuts their trailers, decided to use an unlikely choice of music, John Denver’s “Take Me Home,” hence the commercials title. I know what you’re thinking, what the fuck is that song doing on a Alien trailer? All I can say, is just watch.
As you can clearly see, the two mixed together creates an even more unsettling vibe, with the smooth sound of Denver’s voice laid over the horrifying and disturbing scenes. It’s clear Scott is going for a more return to form with Alien: Covenant than he did with 2012’s Prometheus. Are you excited?
Directed by Ridley Scott, Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Danny McBride, and Demian Bichir. Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters on May 19 in the US.
